FIBERHOUND

FIBERHOUND

Optical detection and tracing of FPV drone fibre-optic cables to locate enemy operators..

Overview

FiberHound is a visual-detection capability integrated into select WIDOWSWARM platforms, designed to identify, map and trace FPV drone fibre-optic control cables on the battlefield.
Using optical analysis and detection models, FiberHound enables frontline units to pinpoint fibre-linked FPV activity, determine launch positions and identify likely operator locations.

FPV drones using fibre-optic guidance present a unique challenge: they do not emit RF signals, making traditional counter-UAS detection ineffective. FiberHound closes this gap by giving autonomous ISR platforms the ability to visually recognise fibre lines and reconstruct their paths in real time.

This capability provides units with the situational awareness needed to locate operators, anticipate launch points and defeat incoming threats at their origin.

The Problem

Fibre-optic FPV drones have become one of the most challenging threats to detect, track and counter. Operating without RF emissions, they remain invisible to EW sensors, spectrum-monitoring systems and most conventional counter-UAS tools.

Across the Ukrainian battlespace, thousands of kilometres of discarded fibre-optic cable lie scattered through trenches, tree lines and urban rubble. These cables form an unintentional forensic trail that can reveal operator hide sites, launch positions and movement patterns — but only if units have the ability to detect and interpret them.

Frontline forces often only discover fibre-optic FPV activity at the moment of impact, leaving no time to react and no means to trace the threat back to its origin. This exposes soldiers to avoidable risk, undermines concealment and prevents units from anticipating or disrupting future attacks.

Without a reliable way to detect the fibre pathways themselves, forces remain blind to the most critical element of the threat: the operator and the launch point that enables every FPV strike.

The Solution FiberHound

FiberHound enables autonomous ISR drones to visually detect fibre-optic cables on the battlefield and reconstruct their routing with high accuracy.
Once detected, the system maps the fibre path, identifies its direction of travel and traces it back to the likely operator or launch location. This reconstruction happens automatically during flight, without the soldier needing to interpret imagery or manually analyse data.

By integrating FiberHound into the WIDOWSWARM platform, the system can survey suspected areas, autonomously search for fibre routes and deliver actionable intelligence directly to the operator. Units gain the ability to locate enemy FPV operators, predict attack vectors and disrupt future launches before they occur.

FiberHound turns one of the battlefield’s hardest-to-detect threats into a discoverable, traceable and actionable intelligence source.

Core Capabilities

FiberHound combines optical sensing, terrain-aware scanning and autonomous path analysis to convert raw visual cues into operational intelligence.

It is designed to run onboard WIDOWSWARM platforms, allowing drones to autonomously search for and identify fibre with no operator workload.

All detection, mapping, and tracing logic is executed within the Sentricon Sovereign Autonomy Platform and mission-planning tools.
